Sixties flower pattern card for MFT

Sixties flower pattern Birthday card for MFT.

Hi there! For this month’s Birthday Project Challenge at My Favorite Things, I made a super colorful sixties inspired flower pattern card.

As you probably guessed, this month’s theme is flowers. I love bright colors, but I’m not very adventurous when it comes to color combinations, so this is totally out there for me!

I wanted the flowers to look kind of messy or abstract, like the ones in this “Unikko” fabric by the Finnish brand Marimekko:

So instead of using the lovely Stitched Flowers Die-namics or any of the gorgeous MFT stamp sets, I used the flowers from the Painted Petals Die-namics and Tropical Flowers Die-namics, which are not stand alone dies!

I didn’t want to limit my palette and used Summer Splash Card Stock for the background + Ripe Raspberry, Pineapple Prestige, Orange Zest, Cotton Candy and Black Licorice for the flowers and leaves.

For the sentiment I diecut and layered a couple of the words from the Sweet Hello Die-namics and backed it with vellum, so that it would stand out a little more. I also added a little banner with a partially embossed sentiment from the Bitty Birthday Wishes and some matching enamel dots.

I hope this card has inspired you to think outside of the box when it comes to flowers… I can’t wait to see what flowery project you create for the MFT July Birthday Project Challenge. Please, head on to the MFT Blog for more inspiration from the DT and remember that one lucky participant will win a $50 gift voucher to the online store!
