Card with tools for Vault Day 1

Cards with tools for Day 1 of the MFT May Vault Release Countdown.

Hello again! We’re down to Day 1 of the May MFT Vault Release Countdown, and I’m sharing a card with tools and a retro feel to it.

First, I rolled a piece of  Steel Grey Card Stock through my die cutting machine… The worn cutting plates gave it some nice texture. Then I die cut two panels with the Pegboard Cover-Up Die-namics and stacked them with liquid glue. After that, I used silver pigment ink to give the panel a metallic finish.

Next, I glued it to an A2 cardbase in the same color, but it looked too dark, so I simply cut it out. I stamped the sentiment from the Let’s Tool Around set to a 1 1/4″ (3,2cm) wide strip of Translucent vellum and wrapped it around the panel (hiding double sided tape behind some of the letters), before adhering it to a cardbase of Sour Apple Card Stock.

I had a great time die cutting, assembling and distressing the tools from the Tool Time Die-namics, to give them a worn look. I even added some copper embossing powder to the blade of the saw, to make it look a little bit rusty.

Lastly, I didn’t know how to adhere the tools to the pegboard in a “realistic manner”, so I used tiny silver enamel dots for it. I even punched holes in the hammer and screwdriver, so that I could do the same with them.

As a last touch, I added some enamel stars in the same colors as the tool handles.  I looove tools myself and had a blast making this card, which I consider totally unisex. Can’t wait to see what my teammates created for today!
