Hi there! For Spotlight Day 3 of the MFT October Release I’m sharing an interactive volvelle Christmas card with some carolers.
They are from the adorable SY Christmas Carols stamp set. Before I tell you more about the card, let’s check it out in action in the video clip below!
As you can see, when we slide the pull tab downwards, a fun little elf and some trees, magically appear. You’ll find a step by step in the YouTube tutorial, but below I’m sharing some extra details…
I started by stamping, die cutting and coloring all of the cute images. These are the Copic markers that I used:
Santa & Mrs. Clause’s hair and skin: C2, C1, E11, E21, E000, R02
Santa & Mrs. Clause’s clothes: R39, R37, R35, YR24, YR21, W10, W7, W5, W1, W00
Elf: R39, R37, R35, E37, E35, BG18, BG15, W7, E11, E21, E000, R02
Reindeer: R39, R37,R35, E37, E35, BG18, BG15, R37, R35, W3, W1
Music sheets: E51
Trees: B00, B000
Next, I moved on to the really simple mechanism, which you can check out in the tutorial. You’ll just need a 3″ circle, a brad and some kind of little pull tab. I used the smallest die from the Spin & Slide Channels Die-namics for mine, but any small banner die or large letter die would work. The circle fits perfectly in the arch of my panel but you could choose a rectangular one instead. The pull tab would just have to be longer so that it wouldn’t disappear behind the corners.
