Christmas card with surprise flap

Christmas card with surprise flap for Day 5 of the MFT October Release Countdown.

Yay, it’s time to kick off the MFT October Release Countdown! I’m sharing a fun Christmas card with a surprise flap that I hope you’ll enjoy.

MFT July Release Countdown.

I started by stamping the mail box and a partial sentiment from the SY Holiday Hello stamp set on a piece of Copic friendly card stock. After masking the mail box, I did some soft inkblending with the Drifts & Hills Stencil and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink. Next, I used the new First Snowfall Stencil to add some white embossed snowflakes.

Next, I used the largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics and the smallest die from the Surprise Stitched Tag Die-namics to cut my panel. On the hidden panel I repeated the ink blending and stamped the rest of the sentiment, behind the flap.

I was too lazy to mask the reindeer so I stamped him and the Santa on another piece of paper, die cut the images with the matching dies and colored them with the following Copic markers: R29, R27, R24, E33, E31, W10, W7, W3, W1 and W00.

Before I finish this blog post, here’s a little animated gif of the surprise flap being lifted… It reminds me of the Christmas advent calendars that I used to receive as a little girl in my native Finland.
