Yay, today I’m celebrating the MFT August Vault Release with an interactive spinner slider card featuring hedgehogs.
As soon as I saw the BB Happy Hedgehogs set I knew that I wanted to create this type of card. But before I go into more details, let’s check it out in action in the video clip below.
The mechanism is a hybrid between the “sliding pull tab spinner” that I saw on the Square Type YouTube Channel, which I highly recommend, and my dear teammate Karolyn Loncon’s awesome Spinning record player card. If you are interested, HERE you can check out my tutorial for a similar card with a cartwheeling gnome that I made last year.

This time I actually wanted to make a slimline card, but I made the pulltab too sturdy (using 4 layers of cardstock) and the Spin & Slide Disc that I used wasn’t thick enough. However, the A2 format is actually easier to decorate so I wasn’t too upset about it.

For the ink blending I used the same Premium Dye Inks as in yesterday’s card: Jalapeño Popper, Prickly Pear, Butterscotch, Candied Yam, Fire Coral and Moroccan Spice. I ink blended the grass twice. First on my A2 panel, which I later die cut with the largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics, and then on a separate panel.

I ran it through my die cutting machine, first with a die from the Slimline Grassy Hills Die-namics and the largest die from the Spin & Slide Channels Die-namics and then with the largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics.

The pull tab is from the Interactive Up & Down Die-namics. I used two layers to make it sturdy enough. I also used some clear thread for the mechanism, which you barely can see in the above picture.

That’s it for today! Head on to the MFT Blog for more inspiration and grab your favorite Birdie Brown sets in the MFT Store before they sell out. Thank you for your visit!
