Picnic card for the May MFT Vault Release

Sweet picnic card for the May MFT Vault Release.

Hi again! I’m back with a sweet picnic card for the May MFT Vault Release. That means you can now find all of the awesome products featured these days, in the MFT Boutique.

After two cards with realistic coloring and shading HERE and HERE, I decided to create a clean and simple one with the adorable girl from the BB Every Day is a Picnic stamp set. Her large size makes her extra fun to color and I even did some paper piecing on her blouse, although nothing as elaborate as THIS work of art by my talented teammate Debbie.

Cute picnic card created by Laura Dovalo for MFT.

I diecut a panel of Copic friendly card stock with the second largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics and stamped the girl, the picnic basket, the ants and the sentiment with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink.

Then I masked the legs and the basket, so that I could lightly ink the grass with some Sour Apple Premium Dye Ink and the Grassy Edges Stencil. I love the cute little ants, but when I tried out my first idea, which was to create a frame with them, it turned out a little bit creepy. I guess when it comes to bugs, less is more.

As you can see in the close up above, I even added some Glossy Accents, to make them come alive.

After I was done with the coloring (Copic markers; E11, E21, E000, R20, E04, E55, E53, E51, RV34, RV32, RV11, C2, G46, G43, G40, Y17 and Y15) I adhered the panel to a top fold card base covered with patterned paper from the Spring Whimsy Paper Pad and that’s it.

I hope you enjoyed the May MFT Vault Release Countdown as much as I did. Check out the MFT Blog for more inspiration. Happy shopping! ^_^
