Birthday cake card

Card with cake and rainbow stripes for MFT.

Yay, the MFT February Release Countdown is reaching its end! Today’s project is a clean and simple card featuring the whimsical Birthdays Take the Cake stamp set.

I started by inking a panel of Smooth White Card Stock with the Candy Stripes Stencil and the following rainbow colored Premium Dye Inks:

Then I stamped the sentiment from the Birthdays Take the Cake stamp set, in Extreme Black Hybrid Ink, under the purple stripe.

Next, I stamped the piece of cake with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink and masked it in order to stamp the cake stand. I then partially diecut it with two of the matching dies.

I colored it with the following Copic markers (and added both a layer of Glossy Accents for the chocolate cover and some snow marker for the frosting):

  • E51 and E50 for the vanilla
  • E37, E35 and E33 for the chocolate
  • C2 and C00 for the cake stand

To make the cake stand out more, I adhered it with 3D Foam Squares to a circle of Heavyweight Translucent Vellum, die cut with one of the dies from the A2 Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics. Finally, I added three enamel hearts in matching colors.

That’s all for today. I hope you enjoyed today’s card and that you’re taking note of all of your favorite products from this release, so that you can go shopping tomorrow, when it goes live. Also, check out the MFT Blog for more inspiration and info. Have a great day!
