Hello! Although I’m not a fan of winter, I love making winter themed cards and that’s exactly what the new challenge at the Create a Smile blog is all about. I used the Gull Gang stamp set to make mine…

I thought it would be fun to create a scene with two freezing seagulls. They were taken by surprise, by the sudden onset of winter! One minute they were swimming around, enjoying themselves and the next, they were frozen solid.

First I stamped the main characters on a panel of Neenah Solar White card stock. For this I used Memento “Teal Zeal” ink. Next I masked them with Simon Says Stamp masking paper. I then inked the background with two tones of Distress Oxide Ink (Broken China and Faded Jeans). Once the ink was dry, I used a stencil and some Texture Paste by Ranger, to create the snow.

After the sky was ready, I used a mirror stamp to stamp a reflexion of the sea gulls and Copic markers to color them. The ice was colored with Prismacolor pencils and covered with a strip of vellum, backed with Stick-It adhesive. To give the ice more shine, I coated it with clear Wink of Stella and added some “Fresh Snow” Nuvo Glitter Accents.

The sentiment is made up of a phrase from the fun Served Up stamp set by Create a Smile and the Sky Alphabet Stickers, which I covered with a layer of Glossy Accents. I also added it to the beaks and legs of the frozen birds. For my cardbase, I chose “Blue Breeze” cardstock by My Favorite Things.

As always, I now invite you to head on over to the Create a Smile blog to check out the cards of my team mates. I hope you feel inspired to join our challenge. Maybe you will win the 25 € gift voucher to the Create a Smile online store.
Finally, here’s another fun scene card, that I created with CAS stamps. ¡Have a great day!
