Card with DIY background for Create a Smile

Hi there! I’m back with a new card featuring a DIY background for the new challenge at Create a Smile. I used small stamps from the Doctor’s Helper set to create a background filled with pills, capsules and band-aids.

I colored the small stamped images with Prismacolor pencils. I love the way they look on kraft cardstock… almost like chalk. I used Copic markers for the bear from the Bear Mail stamp set, but used a sharp brown pencil to add some fur. I used banners from the Cool Cuts Stacked Pierced Banners die set to make the bear and sentiment really stand out.

Lastly I turned the package, that the bear is carrying in its paws, into a box of tissues. I also added three red hearts covered with Glossy Accents, to send a friend who is feeling down, lots of love. I hope it’ll cheer her up.

As I mentioned in the beginning, it’s all about DIY backgrounds and we can use stamps, inks or watercolor, stencils, die cuts… whatever tickles our fancy. The possibilities are endless!

The only rule to enter the challenge and possibly win a 25€ gift card to the online store, is that the main feature of the project has to be a Create a Smile product. I now invite you to visit the Create a Smile blog to check out what our guest designers and my DT colleagues made. See you soon!
