Deconstruction of a mandala for Create a Smile

A card with Create a Smile's mandala stamp by Laura Dovalo.

Hi there! Today I have some great news to share… I’ve been selected to join the new Challenge Design Team at Create a Smile Stamps! During the next six months, I’ll share two monthly projects with their wonderful products.

For the first challenge titled “A special day”, I’ve made a Birthday card with the spectacular Mandala Cling stamp.

First I stamped the mandala three times with Memento “Tuxedo Black” ink on some heavy weight white cardstock, then I colored each of the images with Copic markers and finally I fussy cut them.

Next I layered the three pieces with some volume. For the first layer, I used a thin chipboard coaster and for the next layers, I used both thick and thin foam adhesive.

I colored the foam dots with a black marker, so that the adhesive wouldn’t be visible from the side.

I decided to use one of the circular sentiments from the Clear Vinyl Greetings stamp set, which I embossed in silver, so that it would match the silver Nuvo Crystal Drops that I added to the second layer.

I also glued a silver colored half pearl to the center of the sentiment. Even though it isn’t very large, it’s easy to read and I like it a lot.

Here’s the last picture of the card. Now I invite you to visit the Create a Smile Stamps blog to check out the projects of the rest of the challenge DT and to find out how you can participate in this challenge and win a 25 € gift card to the online shop.

That’s all for today. Until next time!
