Hi there! Today I’m stopping by to show you some bookmarks that I made for the MRDM (Best Challenge in the World 2018), a solidary iniciative promoted by Andrea and her DT, to bring some joy to hospitalized children, at the San Juan de Dios hospital in Barcelona, on World Book Day.
I struggle with making bookmarks, but I really wanted to participate, so I started stamping and coloring and little by little, I got into the groove of things and made a whole bunch of them…

For the first two bookmarks, I used my own digital monster stamps. If you like them, you can download them HERE for free. For the one to the left, I used Nuvo’s “Pacific Teal” mousse and a stencil by Tim Holtz. For the second one, I simply sprinkled some Infusions “Coloured stains” powders in “Violetta” and “Green Man”, on the watercolor tag (die cut with one of the dies from the set “Infinity Tag” by Sizzix) and sprayed it with water.
The speech bubble is by La Pareja Creativa and the sentiment “No hay nadie como tú” (There’s no one like you) is from the stamp set “Mamá” by Lora Bailora. The sentiment “Vive, sueña, ama, ríe” (Live, dream, love, laugh) is from a set by Personal Mark.

The cute stamps of these two tags are by Stamp Annie Thing and even though it’s hard to tell from the picture, the backgrounds have a touch of gold, adding some glamour to them. The sentiment “No hay nadie como tú” (There’s no one like you”) is from the set “Muero de Amor” (Dying with love) by Lora Bailora and the phrase “Eres especial” (You’re special) is from La Pareja Creativa.

I had already showed you these three solidary bookmarks, made with La Pareja Creativa products in THIS entry. I just added some googly eyes and a mouth to the XL pencil and a strip of ribbon to the magnet bookmark.

The common theme of this trio are mythological creatures… The mermaid is by My Favorite Things and I believe that the unicorns are by Mama Elephant. The sentiments “No hay nadie como tú” and “Como tú no hay dos” (There’s no one like you.) are from the set “Mamá” by Lora Bailora and the die cut words “Momento” and “Mágico” are by La Pareja Creativa. I used Distress and Oxide inks for the backgrounds and I added some clear and silver Nuvo drops (and stars) as a last touch.

I love the back of the first bookmark. I embossed the stamp “Mermaid tail” by My Favorite Things in silver and inked it with Distress inks, creating an ombre effect.

So, here’s my contribution to the Best Challenge in the World 2018… it’s not a lot, but keeping in mind that I find bookmarks really hard to make, I’m quite satisfied. I used some thin vellum to make pockets for the bookmarks…

…and added a sticker with the text “Hecho a mano” (handmade) and a heart to the back of each one of them. This way they are protected, but the design can still be seen, in order to distribute them among the children.
I hope that the goal of 500 bookmarks will be achieved, so that all of the hospitalized children at San Juan, will receive at least one bookmark on World Book Day. Thanks to Andrea and all the people who make this beautiful solidary challenge possible. See you tomorrow!
