A pull tab card with a rotating mechanism

Interactive T-rex card with a rotating mechanism.

Hi there, welcome! Is there a better way to launch a new blog than with a pull tab card with a rotating mechanism? Although I filmed this tutorial almost a month ago (hence my older watermark in the pics), I hadn’t been able to record the audio until recently. Flue season has been terrible in Spain this year, and it totally knocked me out for , but I’m finally feeling better. ^_^

In September, when I posted my triple interactive card for My Favorite Thing’s mega challenge (check out the winners here), I received some requests for a tutorial showing only the second mechanism, which makes the dino’s mouth open. Well, I’ve finally finished it…

A fun t-rex pull tab card with a rotating mechanism.

This card is less complicated than the first one, but just as cheerful. The “You’re Rawrsome” stamp set by My Favorite Things is so funny. For the cake and presents, I used stamps from the sets; “Birthday Bears” and “Happy Hippos”.

When the slider panel is pulled, the upper jaw of the dino rotates, revealing the present that the little rascal ate, ha ha ha. I thought of making a totally new version with other characters and elements, but I didn’t want to confuse anyone, just explain the mechanism in a more thorough way. It’s actually quite simple. Here’s the tutorial. You can also watch it in HD on Youtube:

I hope that everything is now crystal clear (I simplified a few steps) and that you will try to make your own pull tab card with a rotating mechanism.

Free digital stamp

For that reason, here’s a freebie… a digital stamp of three big mouthed monsters, that I drew for the occasion (just right click on the pic and choose “save as…” to download):
