A CAS card for the second “Scrapliftduo”

For the second “Scrapliftduo” organized by Mireia and Anika, we had to draw inspiration from a card made by Rocío from the blog Veo Veo Scrapeo. Here’s my version.

…of Ro’s beautiful card, with its beautiful stenciled ombre effect, cluster of enamel dots and graphic sentiment:

As you can see, I’ve used the same layout, but with different colours, materials and elements…

For the background I used a hexagon die by Kesi’ Art and a paper with ombre effect that I think is by Dear Lizzy…
I adhered the hexagons one by one directly to the card base with adhesive foam squares using the die cut (chicken fence) as a stencil. I stamped the word “Cumpleaños” (Birthday) from a set by “Con Sal y Pimienta” to a strip of vellum with black StazOn ink and next I’ll show you how I die cut the sentiment strip with the word “FELIZ” (happy)…
I cut a strip of black cardstock (that I temporarily adhered to a piece of gridded paper to use as a guide) of the same width as my card base and traced a straight line 5mm from the edge with a ledholder (mechanical pencil).
I placed the alphabet dies on the line and temporarily adhered them with some tape. I made a partial cut, placing the upper cutting mat as you can see in the above picture.

Now I cut the strip and the space between the letters with a craft knife. The previously traced line that I used to place the dies, is no longer useful. The cut must go higher up…

… and that’s it! Doesn’t it look good? Although I just won a fantastic give-away of enamel dots by Isa from Happy Cardmaking, there were no pink ones and I was out of them so I used sequins instead.

On Tuesday I’ll be back with an entry full of surprises to celebrate my first year as a blogger… Happy Hispanic Heritage Day!
