It has been more than six months since I participated in a challenge at 3flowers with THIS card. Today is the sixteenth time (counting the four Christmas “non-challenges”) and their fiftieth challenge… ¡Congratulations, ladies!
This time Mariaje (Maria Jesus Villaroto), one of the best Spanish scrapbookers, asks us to make a card based on a layout. I decided to return to my beginnings, or to the style that most caught my attention when I first started scrapping and make this vintage-style card…
inspired by this layout:
which is a scraplift of Xenia’s beautiful layout:
I also wanted to add a unisex or masculine feel to the card so that I could give it to Ivan, my son’s teacher.
I got the idea because the background with the white stamped frames, reminded me of a blackboard. In order to emphasize this , I slightly inked the border and the oval with the word “gracias” (thank you) with the same ink.
The moustache is a wood veneer that I inked with “Gathered twigs” Distress ink… I’ve also used it to ink the border of the patterned paper. The mini screw brads are from Tim Holtz idea-ology and they add a nice masculine touch to the card.
The frame with the apple is a very teacher-like element that I copied directly from my layout, although in that case it was a die-cut heart covered with Glossy Accents… I hand cut the apple shape and used die-cuts from the Die-namics “Fresh cut flowers” set for the rest of the elements.
I stamped the word “gracias” with a partially masked stamp from “Con sal y pimienta”. The embossing powder is Ranger’s “Liquid platinum”, a warm silver tone that I love…
As always, here’s a last picture of my card… see you soon!
