A layout dedicated to my gradma, Momi

Vintage look layout dedicated to my grandma.
I made this layout in honor of my Finnish grandma, Margit Rasi (“Momi”), for the fourth and last “blog birthday challenge” of Locas por el Scrap, in which they asked us to use washi tape. Momi passed away almost 15 years ago but I still carry her in my heart…

She was a really hard-working, generous and kind-hearted, but at the same time, strong-willed and stubborn person, with many friends and an active social-life. She sang in the church choir, loved to travel, weave, knit and work in her garden. She also worked in the tax office and was a woman ahead of her time.
When I went through my washi tape stash, I noticed that most of them were vintage style so they fit this type of layout perfectly… I used cream-colored cardstock so that the patterns would stand out, but not too much and I also lightly inked the area around the main panel whith black Distress ink to soften the designs a bit.
I made most of the embellishments myself. The cameo (shrink plastic and leather) that I inserted in the letter “O” reminds me of a broche that she always wore… Momi loved flowers, so I had to include a couple of them (I made them out of leather using the Sizzix Bigz die called Flowers 3-D). I hand-cut the gramophone, which represents her love for music, out of black shrink plastic and added a brass angel. I also added a couple of shells (that were left over from when I made a nautical shaker card a while ago) because my grandmother lived in a beautiful small town by the sea, called Hanko, in the Southern part of Finland. The brass label holder is by Artemio.

I hope you liked this layout, which is really special to me… See you next time!
