Hello again! It’s time for a new Weekly Sketch Challenge (WSC517) at the MFT Blog. I was inspired to create a tropical card with the BB Polynesian Paradise stamp set, that I had never used before.

As always, i followed the sketch closely and went through my stash in search for inspiration for the frame, main images, sentiment and horizontal element…

Sketch for WSC517.

It was a lot of fun to color the toucan, chameleon and flower. I didn’t want to leave a white border around them, so I fussy cut them instead of using the matching dies. Some parts of the chameleon were too delicate, so I colored them with a dark green marker to blend in with the Jellybean Green cardbase.

For the frame element of the WS517 sketch, I chose the Lots of Leaves Cover-Up Die-namics, which I die cut out of Sour Apple Card Stock. I adhered thin foam squares under some of the leaves for added dimension.

The branch that the toucan is perched on is actually one of the trees from the Birch Trees Die-namics. I diecut it out of Chocolate Brown Card Stock.

As a last touch, I added Clear Round Drops to some of the leaves (they almost look like dew drops) and Glossy Accents to the eyes of the critters.
