Yay, we’re down to the last Countdown Day before the August Release goes live and I’m stopping by with a clean and simple card with a slice of gooey Halloween cake.

The sentiment and piece of Halloween cake

I wanted to use one of the  sentiments from the Sassy Pants Spooctacular stamp set and I thought that the «Happy Boo-Day» would go perfectly with a piece of fun Halloween cake, cut with dies from the Piece of Cake Die-namics. Before going with the Smooth White, Grape Jelly and Kraft card stock combo, I tried a bunch of other ones.

I also cut the dripping jelly with one of the dies from the Birthday Cake Die-namics… After assembling the piece of cake, I heat embossed the spider web from the Boo Crew, in white, on the top.

It looked lonely, so I stamped the little spider next to it with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink and colored its tiny eyes and smile with a white Sharpie. Later on, after adhering the piece of Halloween cake to my card, I added some shimmer with clear Wink of Stella and a layer of Glossy Accents. I also added three mini googly eyes for an extra creepy touch.

The striped background

I don’t know if you can tell from the pictures, but the striped background is actually silver heat embossing, created with the Lined by Hand Background, on Black Licorice Prestige Card Stock. So that it wouldn’t be overwhelming, I added a white 3.75″ x 5.5″ (9,5cm x 14cm) panel with a round hole, cut with one of the dies from the A2 Circle STAX Die-namics, on top of it.

Besides the aforementioned sentiment, I also stamped some stars from the Boo Crew stamp set in Extreme Black Hybrid Ink and Grape Jelly Premium Dye Ink, on it.
